The Vienna Philharmonic Gold has been minted by the Austrian Mint since 1989. It is one of the world's most sought-after and popular classic gold bullion coins. Since its first issue in 1989, it has even been listed as the world's best-selling coin by the World Gold Council at times. Until the introduction of the euro in 2002, the face value was 2000 schillings. To date, the mintage for the ounce gold coin is around 10 million pieces. The fineness of 999.9/1000 is very high. The world-famous organ from the Musikverein building and instruments from the orchestra that gave the coin its name were chosen as motifs.
