The Canadian mint has been minting this 1 ounce silver coin with the maple leaf (= Maple Leaf) since 1988. These silver coins are among the market leaders in silver bullion coins. The English "FINE SILVER" and the French "ARGENT PUR" as well as "9999" indicate that it is 999.9/1000 fine silver. Since 2014, these coins have been produced with the new, modern Mintshield technology as a security feature. The value side shows Queen Elizabeth II and the face value of 5 Canadian dollars.
